BTM: Bringing Perth’s lawns back to life.
There is mowing, and then there is lawn care. Anyone can push a mower over your grass, but incorrect mowing is actually one of the main reasons lawns in Perth fail. Scalping, dull blades that tear the leaf, and inconsistent schedules all stress the plant and invite disease.
ByrneTurf & Maintenance (BTM) offers a professional mowing service that focuses on the health of the grass, not just its height. Whether you want a laser-flat cylinder cut for your Couch or a lush, healthy rotary cut for your Buffalo, we have the commercial equipment and the know-how to do it right.
We carry both types of machines, and we use the right one for your lawn.
1. Cylinder Mowing (Reel Mowing)

Best for: Lawns that are relatively flat.
How it works: Like a pair of scissors. A spinning reel cuts against a bottom blade.
The Result: A surgical, clean cut that allows the lawn to be kept very short and dense (the "carpet" look).
Why we use it: It reduces leaf tear, meaning the lawn stays greener and recovers faster.
2. Rotary Mowing
Best for: Longer lawns and uneven surfaces.
How it works: A spinning horizontal blade chops the grass.
The Result: A taller, lush finish.
Why we use it: Buffalo hates being cut too short. A high-quality rotary mower with sharp blades allows us to keep Buffalo at the perfect 25mm–40mm height where it thrives.

Have you ever looked closely at your grass after a cheap mowing contractor has visited? If the tips look white and shredded, their blades are dull. This "tearing" causes the grass to lose moisture rapidly and opens the door for fungal diseases.
We sharpen our equipment daily. Every cut is crisp, sealing the leaf immediately and keeping the green colour locked in.

In Perth, we generally recommend catching clippings. Why? Because our grasses grow so fast that leaving clippings behind often leads to excess thatch, which blocks water from reaching the soil. Mulching can be done, but only if you mow very frequently (every 3–5 days). For standard fortnightly services, catching is the healthier option.
Warm Months
We recommend weekly or fortnightly. Grass grows fast in the heat. Monthly mowing in summer damages the lawn because we have to cut off too much leaf at once (scalping), which puts the grass into shock.
Cool Months
Less frequent mowing as growth slows, with a focus on weed prevention and overall health. Typically fortnightly to monthly
Premium lawn mowing under the BTM standard means your lawn is looked after properly, not just “kept short.” Our technicians turn up when scheduled or let you know clearly if something changes, so you are never left guessing.
Turning up when scheduled (or clearly communicating changes)
A consistent finish—mow lines, edges, tidy clean-up
Protecting turf health (not scalping to “save time”)
Being proactive about the causes of decline, not reactive after damage
It also means clear advice. If your lawn is heading toward needing renovation, you’ll be told early and given options—rather than watching it deteriorate for another season.

BTM focuses on Perth's Northern coastal corridor so travel time is minimised and service levels stay high. If you're nearby but unsure, reach out — if we can't help, we'll point you in the right direction.
Coastal: North Beach, Trigg, Watermans Bay, Marmion, Sorrento.
Central: Karrinyup, Gwelup, Carine, Duncraig, Greenwood, Warwick.
Inner North: Stirling, Balcatta, Hamersley, Kingsley, Tuart Hill, Yokine.
We also service other Perth suburbs upon request
Commercial and strata clients slightly outside this area may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
Residential maintenance usually covers mowing suited to your turf, correct cutting height, edging, light weed control, debris removal and health-focused checks.
In warmer months, lawns are serviced weekly or fortnightly; cooler months require less frequent visits. Schedule depends on your turf type and lawn goals.
No. As long as we have access (gates unlocked) and pets are inside, we can do the job and invoice you electronically.
Yes, maintenance can also involve health-focused upgrades and renovations, helping restore your lawn’s health. Ask about our renovation offerings.
We try to avoid it. Mowing wet grass creates clumps and ruts. If it’s pouring rain, we will reschedule for the next dry window.
Yes, but this is a "slash" or "overgrown clean-up" service, not a standard mow. It costs more because it takes longer and fills more catcher loads. We may need to cut it high first, then come back in a few days to lower it gradually.
Tell us about your lawn and your goals — we'll recommend the most suitable combination of renovation, verti-mowing and ongoing maintenance for your property.
