Stop lawn pests before they strip your turf.
You spend all year watering, mowing, and feeding your lawn, only to walk out one morning and see huge brown patches appearing overnight. Or perhaps your lawn feels loose, like a rug that isn’t attached to the floor. These are the classic signs of a pest attack.
In Perth’s warm climate, lawn pests like Lawn Armyworm and Black African Beetle are aggressive and destructive. They can destroy a healthy lawn in a matter of days if left untreated.
BYRNE Turf & Maintenance (BTM) provides rapid-response pest control for residential lawns. We don’t just spray and pray; we identify the exact pest, use the correct commercial-grade insecticide to break the breeding cycle, and help your lawn recover from the damage.
Call us immediately if you suspect pests. Speed is everything.

Black African Beetle

Army Worm

Lawn Armyworm (The Surface Destroyer)
Armyworms are caterpillar-like larvae that move in huge numbers (like an army), eating the leaf blade of your grass.
Signs: You will see eaten leaves (transparent tips), green droppings (frass) on the ground, and birds pecking at the lawn. Damage usually starts near outdoor lights or trees and spreads rapidly.
Speed: They feed at night and can strip a lush green lawn back to dirt in less than 48 hours.
Test: Throw a wet towel on the lawn overnight. In the morning, lift it up—if you see caterpillars underneath, you have an infestation.

Black African Beetle (The Root Destroyer)
These are even more dangerous because the damage happens underground. The beetle larvae (white curl grubs) eat the roots of the grass.
Signs: The lawn turns yellow or brown in patches. Crucially, the grass pulls up easily like a toupee because it has no roots left to hold it down.
Season: The grubs are most active in late Spring and Summer.
Impact: Because the roots are gone, the lawn cannot drink water. It essentially dies of thirst, no matter how much you irrigate.

We can apply granular or liquid ant treatments that wipe out the colony, not just the ants you see on the surface.
Safe: It is highly targeted and has very low toxicity for bees, birds, and pets.
Effective: One application in Spring can protect your lawn for the entire season.

We also service other Perth suburbs upon request
Commercial and strata clients slightly outside this area may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
We use professional products that typically require you to keep pets off the lawn until the spray has completely dried (usually 1–2 hours). Once dry, it is safe. We will always give you specific safety instructions on the day.
Yes, usually. Armyworms eat the leaf, not the root. If we catch it early and feed the lawn, it will bounce back quickly.
This is harder. If the roots are gone, the grass often dies completely. This is why preventative treatment or early detection is vital.
You can try, but the concentration is much lower. For a heavy infestation, you might knock them down but not kill the cycle. Professional application ensures the right dose reaches the right depth.
